The company was then invited to perform in Washington and Chicago in the 1970's. Particularly responsible for enhancing the company's worldwide fame in recent years is Heinz Sperli, appointed from the Duesseldorf Ballet (Rhein-Deutz Theatre) in 1996 as artistic director and choreographer. In June, two world renowned ballet dancers, Tetsuya Kumagawa and Viviana Durante, will perform "Romeo and Juliet" under Sperli's artistic direction in Hall A of the Tokyo International Forum. These two have already produced exquisite performances in "Carmen", "Giselle", and the Macmillan "Romeo and Juliet", among others. This time, they can again be expected to portray a form of love to sway the hearts of the audience, with their skilful expression of emotion and superb technique.
