nakata.net cafe - a hub for football fans from around the world

At last - the 2002 World Cup is here! To coincide with this fantastic event, the "nakata.net cafe" will remain open from April 19th to July 14th in A Block 2F of the Tokyo International Forum. This project was conceived by Japanese national player Hidetoshi Nakata, who plies his trade in Serie A of the Italian league. Nakata himself chose the stylish chairs and tables for the deli-style cafe, where soccer fans from all over the world gather to create a truly cosmopolitan air. Particularly noteworthy is the cafe's function as a hospitality center for supporters coming to Japan from other countries. In the concierge area at the center of the cafe, staff conversant in Japanese, English, Hanggul, Spanish, Italian, and French give information on access to the stadia and tourist spots, the match schedule, accommodation, restaurants, and more. Meanwhile, 13 PCs set up by the windows and in the far passageway can be used to access the Internet, while TV monitors in the cafe show live action from the matches. Drop in and feel the heart-throb of this sensational tournament!

Tokyo FM satellite bus appears in the Plaza

From April 22nd to 26th, visitors to the Tokyo International Forum were met by the sight of a bright red bus, adorned with stylish designs, that appeared in a corner of the Plaza with all its bright new greenery. This was an original satellite bus created as a relay station for Tokyo FM's new program "Happy Go Lucky" (Mon.-Fri. 11:30-13:00). Inside the bus, popular personalities took part in live broadcasts, while, outside, reporters made streetside interviews. Passers-by would stop to listen to the fascinating chat during their lunch breaks. In future, we hope to make more effective use of the Plaza, true to its name, as a "square" in which visitors to the facility will be able to relax.
