For three days from August 13th to 15th, 2002, "Tokyo Art Jungle" will be held to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the Tokyo International Forum. The TIF facilities will be used to present new creativity and diverse culture produced in the city of Tokyo, including art, music, fashion, film, sports, magazines, food, language, and maps. Different "venues" in the form of JR Yamanote Line trains and a web site will provide linkage, developing this into an art event with reciprocal and multi-faceted breadth. Participating artists will include Ryota Kuwakubo, Yasuaki Shimizu, Masahiro Nakagawa (20471120), Namaiki, Hideyuki Tanaka, and David Byrne, as well as illustrators, skateboarders, and many others active in a wide variety of genres.

Stirring emotions to spur creativity - in the hope that children will create a truly rich future... "Discover Music with TPO" starts at last in 2002. And as its doors open, waiting there are the various attractions presented by world-renowned conductor Chung Myung-whun and his orchestra. The lead role in this year's event is taken by Beethoven. Musicians from TPO will go around elementary schools in the metropolitan area to hold workshops, acting as guides to the concerts. Children will take part in orchestra rehearsals in Hall C and see the "Destiny" symphony taking shape before their eyes. In the Reception Hall, the various instruments used by the orchestra await their inspection. Then, on August 30th, a real Beethoven concert will be held at last in Hall A, and the event will reach its summer holiday climax. Do please join us.

Asia Performing Arts Festival 2002 Tokyo (joint promotion: Performing Arts market 2002 Tokyo) is an event that combines festival and trade fair elements. It brings performing arts organizations and individuals from major cities all over Asia - Beijing, Delhi, Hanoi, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Seoul, Taipei, and Tokyo - together under one roof. There, they will transmit Asian performing arts to the world through their presentation of works, as well as human and information exchanges. A full program of events is planned for the various venues of the Tokyo International Forum, including booth displays by theater, dance, music and other performing arts groups from major Asian cities and Japan (Reception Hall, 19th-21st), presentations of video and actual performances (Audiovisual Hall, Hall B, Hall D, etc.), workshops in international joint production, etc., and Asian food stalls and street performance (Plaza / Admission free). The Kiev Ballet, boasting a history of more than 130 years, is one of the three great Slavic ballet companies. GTF (the Greater Tokyo Festival), with its combination of music, sports, film, recreation and other events, could be described as the biggest summer festival in the metropolitan region. One of the musical events is "GTF meets avex cyber trance 2002", to be held in the Exhibition Hall of the Tokyo International Forum. The Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra is conducted by Resident Conductor Keith Lockhart, whose involvement in the Opening Ceremony of the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics is still fresh in the memory. Following impassioned requests by Japanese fans, the "Boston Pops" return to Japan one year after a sensational concert in Hall A last July. Now, as then, the orchestra is joined by special guest Hideki Togi, to perform well-known screen music and pop numbers with their customary mix of sophistication and energy. Come to Hall A to experience the power and enjoyment of a fusion of east and west, crossing the barriers of genre.
