Gathering the talent of highly original young artists
Philip Morris Art Awards 2002:
The First Move

For ten days from April 27th to May 6th, the Philip Morris Art Awards 2002: The First Move was held to support the "international debut" of young artists. The Exhibition Hall (2), the venue for the event, showcased works by 57 artists who were selected by primary screening from more than 1,000 applicants. The venue was packed every day, partly as the event coincided with Golden Week. Visitors gazed intently at the groups of highly original artworks in various genres, including two- and three-dimensional works, installations, video and media art, etc.
