22nd Research Conference of the Japan Academy of Nursing Science
Main theme: "Accountable Nursing"

Dec. 6th (Fri.) - 7th (Sat.)Hall C, Hall D, Reception Hall, D501, G-Block Conference Rooms, Audiovisual HallFrom 9:00Admission / 12,000 yen (Citizens' Forum - admission free)

The Japan Academy of Nursing Science was launched with its inaugural General Meeting on July 25th, 1981, as a successor to the Japan Council of Nursing Colleges (consisting of six nursing-related universities). Since then, it has promoted activities such as convening research conferences, publishing academic journals, and exchanging information on research and education related to nursing, with the aim of the furthering nursing science and exchanging a broad range of knowledge. It has continued to make steady progress, obtaining authorization to be registered in the Science Council of Japan in 1987. The Research Conference, held once a year, is one of the Academy's central events. Its main theme will be "Accountable Nursing". To foster an independent society in which "Our health is our own concern", we need to offer medical and health services that can be understood by the people. The Conference will therefore include discussion and debate aimed at an approach to practicing "Accountable Nursing", or how to show the strengths and effects of nursing to its users. The Citizens' Forum "Dying at Home, Nursing at Home" on the second day is open to the public free of charge. Anyone with an interest is welcome to attend.

A "joint concert of the century" by these two orchestras will be held on November 24th under the guidance of conductor Valery Gergief. The playlist includes Tchaikovsky's "Serenade for Strings" and Shostakovich's 7th Symphony "Leningrad". Of the latter, Gergief says "The theme of this symphony is a huge tragedy. It is full of the folly of war and anti-war passion. But it ends with a big hope for life." Of the joint concert, he says "Today, war is less about countries fighting countries than cultures fighting cultures. We should learn more about each other's culture and should respect each other's way of life. I think it is significant that people from different cultures are getting together and understanding each other through the medium of art like this." Don't miss the collaboration of the century and its earnest prayer for peace.
