The classic "Giselle", the first full-length ballet performed after the formation of the K Ballet Company led by Tetsuya Kumakawa in autumn 2001, is said to be the pinnacle of romantic ballet from the 19th century. Kumakawa professes always to have had a profound interest in this work. Now, under his own direction and choreography, he presents a production oozing with English-style refinement. The last production enthralled first-time ballet-goers as well as established fans, and attracted a total audience of about 40,000. Now this work, already established as an important part of the K Ballet Company's repertoire, returns to the stage, starting at the Tokyo International Forum on February 13th, 2003. Kumakawa presents his own personal interpretation of Albrecht, one of his best known roles, while the title role will be performed by stars with global appeal. Don't miss this chance to see "Giselle", the first production for 2003 by the K Ballet Company, opening up new frontiers in the world of ballet.

Environmental Management Top Forum - JMA 60th Anniversary Event

Jan. 23rd (Thu.) D501 10:30 Admission: Members 25,000 yen / Non-Members 30,000 yen

The 21st century has been called the "Environmental Era". In Tokyo, a municipal by-law for protection of the environment has been enacted ahead of the national government, and it is strongly hoped that companies will practice management in consideration of the environment ("environmental management"). To this end, corporate concerns have been attempting to raise their levels of social responsibility over the last few years, with the introduction of ISO14001, ethics, legal compliance, and so on. It is against this background that the "Environmental Management Top Forum" will be held. It will include speeches and discussions between top management in companies and local authorities that are promoting environmental management. The result should be a practical and concrete methodology for sustainable environmental management, an issue set to be of increasing importance in future.

And to commemorate the tour, they released the 5 CD set "In A Word: YES (1969-)". This, a compilation of tracks culled from their albums over the last three decades, starts with "YES" (released by Atlantic in 1969) and culminates in "Magnification" (Beyond Music in 2001). Now their popularity is being rekindled wherever they go. Having left North American audiences in a real frenzy, in February 2003 YES at last touch down in Japan! Don't look away - the lid on 35 years of music history will be off before you know it!
