22nd World Gas Conference Tokyo 2003: Opening Ceremony Catalysing an Eco-Responsible Future June 1st (Sun.)Hall A 14:00 Not open to the public
The International Gas Union (IGU), established in 1931 for the technical and economic development of the world's gas industries, is the biggest international organization of gas-related industries. The World Gas Conference is an international conference held by the IGU every three years as a showcase for its activities. With growing concern over the problem of global warming in most countries of the world today, energy and environmental issues are growing increasingly important. Natural gas, a form of energy that places a low burden on the environment, is being targeted as an important energy source for the future. In an attempt to meet these demands of our times, the theme for the 22nd World Gas Conference Tokyo 2003 will be 'Catalysing an Eco-Responsible Future". Under this theme, the Conference will provide an arena for lively debate and research presentations with a focus on environmental issues. This will be the first Conference to be held in Asia, offering a unique opportunity to discuss the energy problems of Asia from a global perspective. At the same time, it should serve as the first step in expanding the reach of the World Gas Conference in the 21st century Inquiries: National Organizing Committee of the 22nd World Gas Conference Tokyo 2003 Tel: 03-3502-0620 http://www.wgc2003.com Third Age Forum Using Japanese energy to create a "Third Age" May 9th (Fri.) Since their debut in 1972, Daryl Hall and John Oates, one of the most successful duos in pop and rock history, have bequeathed a string of hits to the world - including "Rich Girl", "Wait For Me", "Kiss On My List", "Private Eyes", "Man-eater", "Out of Touch", and "Method of Modern Love". Now, in the 21st century, they remain as active as ever. When "Private Eyes" caught the ear as a TV commercial tune in September 2001, they released "The Very Best Of", a specially edited album for the Japanese market, in November. Then in April 2002, the legendary twosome returned to Japan for a true "Very Best" tour that was sold out all over Japan. In February this year, they released "Do It For Love", their first original album for 6 years. The new Japan tour, organized to coincide with the release, promises to be a veritable lexicon of hit numbers, old and new. Inquiries: Udo Artists, Inc.
